Become A Member

NCANS membership is open to everyone enrolled in a state-approved North Carolina nursing school at all levels, nursing school faculty, and pre-nursing students. Currently, NSNA (National Student Nurses' Association) members do not have to attend accredited nursing schools to become members. However, by 2028, the North Carolina Board of Nursing will require all nursing schools to be accredited.

Nursing or pre-nursing students in any state-approved program preparing for registered nurse licensure, or registered nurses in a program leading to a baccalaureate in nursing, are eligible for membership. Nursing students in generic master’s and doctoral programs can also join.

To join NCANS, join our parent organization, the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). NSNA dues are $42 for the first year, $45 for your second year, or $80 for two years at one time. There are no refunds except for overpayments as per NSNA policy.
